Wrong turn.....

The day started just like the other normal days; but ended with painful news. Two students of my college died in an accident. Yesterday they were laughing and having fun with their friends, at that time no one had thought that they are spending the last day with them. Today there is silence everywhere, all are afraid of losing their pals. In a month or so, one of them was about to have the marriage of his sister, he was personally inviting everyone. Till yesterday his parents were preparing for the marriage of their daughter; and today they are trying to control their tears, trying to swallow the fact that their son is no more. The house which was about to witness a marriage, which was about to see happiness, is now filled with the sounds of crying hearts.

One can not blame anyone for such a tragic incident, because no one makes such mistake willingly; but still we can easily find various cases in the newspaper like road accidents, someone getting drowned, etc. many of which take place just because of the carelessness of the person, that carelessness may be in the form of rash driving, driving your vehicle after consuming alcohol or any of the other form. Teenagers can be easily find committing such mistakes, but if you’ll say something to them then all you’ll get to hear from them is ‘I know what I am doing; it’s my life, let me do whatever I want to; I know what is good for me; I am not a kid’ etc etc. I completely agree with them, they definitely know what they are doing, they have an understanding of good and bad and of course they are not kids at all; but still, at any age, there is no harm in being on the safer side.

I accept that a teenager always loves speed, loves to try new things in life, and he wants to be adventurous, cool and popular; for which he performs various activities, which according to him are a necessity; but while performing them he forgets that his act can also affect the life of the people who are attached with him, who care for him and who are living just for him. If a person tells us something, we say “why the hell does he keep telling me what is right;” but we never think about the fact that the person who scolds us, actually worries about us; for him our career, our life and we ourselves really mean a lot; but we instead of thanking him, start hating that person. We think that they do not want us to live our life in the way we want, but actually they just want us to be on the right path, they just don’t want us to get hurt.

Normally while having fun, we become careless about things; and sometimes that carelessness turns out to be too costly. So it is not about making your life dull; but is about being a bit watchful. Do whatever you feel like, live your life to the fullest, but just stay alert, be a bit careful. This life is not only yours; it also belongs to your parents, to your friends and to everyone who worries about you. Your one small mistake can take their life into deep darkness. So before doing anything stupid, think about your parents once, who have sacrificed their whole life just to make you something, just to see you happy. Think about your friends, who always want you to stand by their side; think that your one small stupidity can make their life just like hell. So live your life, enjoy your life, do great things, but be safe, and be a bit careful.

Two different worlds....

I was at home to celebrate the festival of colors and there I saw something which was really very interesting and joyous. On the day prior to Holi, some kids came to my house and asked me to give them some amount of money saying that they are collecting it for the Holi celebration; so I happily gave the amount they asked for and then they proceeded to the next door. Next day they came and gave me an invitation card made by them, at night when everyone gathered at the place where ‘Holika dahan’ was to be done, the kids served everyone with cold drinks and wafers; in this whole event one could easily observe the bright smile on the face of each and every kid, they were all happy. The most remarkable thing in this event was that, half of those kids were from the Muslim families, but equally they all were blithe. And the very next day they were also playing with the colors, with the same energy.

The incident that I narrated above takes place at very few places, we often find people saying ‘Muslims are bad, they don’t deserve to be in India, all Muslims are terrorists etc etc…..’And then when a Muslim replies them back, they say ‘see, what I said.’ This is what happens; but who is wrong here? It is obvious that if one throws something upwards then what he’ll get in return is the shower of the same thing; so if you hate someone, you can not expect love in return. We really need to understand this fact. We start teaching our children from their childhood that Hindus or Muslims are not good, you should not be with them; by our deeds we make them learn the art of hatred, and when they grow they teach the same to their children; and this is how the chain of hatred keeps on growing, it never ends. We keep blaming the others for this hatred but never realize that it was us who planted and nourished this tree of evil. See the incident stated above, there no kid is interested in knowing the religion of the other, they are just flowing in the river of happiness; but will they remain the same as they grow old? I don’t think so, we’ll not let them be what they are; we’ll change them and will make them just like the rest of the world, just like what we all are.

Actually none of the kids want to fight, because kids don’t have to do anything with regions or religions; all they know is, if you shower a small amount of love on them then they give you a much higher amount of love in return. You can easily find two small kids fighting for a tiny thing, but the very next day or just after few hours you can also notice them playing together. This happens because they never keep anything in their heart. All these small things they do at the time when we claim to have a more developed brain say that kids do not understand anything, they do not possess an understanding to differentiate between good and bad; still they live in a world which is better than ours; a place where no war exists, where nothing is hidden in anyone’s heart, where everybody loves and trusts each other, and a place where all are pure to the depth of their soul. On the other side, think what we elders have; a world full of crime, full of hatred, where everyone is selfish, where everyone talks about war, and where every heart is dark on the inside.

Now, what does this mean? According to me, it means that we may be bigger, we claim to have an understanding of the world, but if it’s about love and peace; we lack far behind our kids. Why do we try to make them like us, when we know that our world is not what it should have been? There is still time, we can still learn the art of harmony and peace from our children.

There is a lot that we can learn from the kids, the art of being humans first, the art of being happy, and the art of understanding each others’ heart. And if we want to make our world and life beautiful and peaceful than we must start learning today itself. We must understand that there is no harm in learning from our younger ones; they might teach us something which we have forgotten while swimming with the waves of this selfish world.

Man vs. Dog

One can easily find a Chai Wala as well as a Pan Wala at the gate of any college, my college is no exception. One day when I was standing there with a few of my friends, I saw something; a small kid of the age of around 7 yrs came close to a guy and started asking for a cup of tea; that guy very rudely said “Get lost or I’ll bash u.” with fear on his face and tears in his eyes that kid very slowly moved away, after a while one dog came close to the same guy and started creating various kind of sounds as if he was asking for something from him; the guy than went to the tea shop, bought a packet of biscuit and started feeding him.
The similar kind of situation exits everywhere in our society, we can provide chapatti to cow but when someone really starving comes to us and ask for food we says ‘Get away, we don’t have anything.’ Many a times you can find kids fighting for food which they have collected from the garbage, it’s the same food that we throw away because no one from our family wants to eat it; and we instead of giving it to someone throw it into the dustbin. There are many countries in the world where people are suffering with malnutrition; in our own country more than 20% of people eat just one time in a day, and many a times they don’t even get anything to eat. There also exists the other side of the coin in which people tell the cook to prepare something and then with the ring of the phone they say throw it I am going in a party. Few times it happens that we find something very delicious and take a huge serving of it on our plate, but after eating a small portion we says ‘yar my tummy is full, I can’t eat more now.’ After that, food becomes of no use and we simply throw it away. Now a question arises, is it really necessary to waste the food, that too at the time when so many people are not getting anything to eat, when farmers are committing suicide because there farms are crop less? Can’t we take a sufficient amount which we can really eat? Can’t we make our plans in advance to diminish the problem? And if we can’t do all this than can’t we give the food which is left, to the people who really need it? Of course, we can do it; but than we need to change our habits, we need to change our thinking. If we can give food to an animal than we can also provide food to a man, we need to understand that humans are not beneath animals, they also have the right to eat. I am not asking you to stop feeding animals or to entertain hungry people with money; I am simply asking, not to waste the food and to feed the people with the food that we can not consume. If something is left in the kitchen after fulfilling your requirement then please give it to someone who is starving, try to understand that it is always better to feed someone than to create a bunch of garbage.

Think Once...

It was a fine morning, quite a normal one; everyone was busy with their daily schedule; suddenly I got a call from one of my friends and he said “Hey, do you know yesterday a blast took place in Pune” I was shocked when he said this to me; I replied “No, when did it happen?” “Yesterday, in German bakery, at about 7 30 pm” he answered. I very quickly took a summary of the news from him and said “Yar will call you back, ok” after that I called all my friends who were in pune; they all were safe. So I thanked God once and resumed my daily business.

This is what normally happens with all of us, if something happens somewhere we very quickly try to know whether the people who are related to our life are safe; and if we get to know that they are safe, we say thank you God and then we forget the matter, as if nothing has happened which was unnatural. Now just think once that someone who was close to our heart gets seriously injured in such a case, and then what will be our reaction. ‘We’ll be full of anger, will directly go to the media, will ask the cops as well as government that what all they are trying to do in order to arrest the culprits, was the government not having the information of any such activity from the people of intelligence, and if they were having such information then why didn’t they try to share it with the people.’ If this much we could not have done than definitely would have done as much as we could, that too in the case when someone very close to our heart is suffering, at the time when our mind has stopped working and we have become hopeless, when not only eyes but heart is also crying with the same intensity; at that point of time also if we can try to do whatever we can, then why we are quiet, are we waiting for the time when some part of our own blood gets injured, or are we waiting for the next calamity to take place? We have to wake up, we have to think, and we have to give our hands to the people who have suffered. Their mind may not be in the condition to work properly, but ours is; then why are not we using it. It’s the time when we need to stand up, to prove that it’s not just the matter of one person but it’s about the whole country, it’s about humanity. And if we are thinking that what we can do then at least we can use the power which our constitution has given to us, the power to speak our mind. Don’t do it for your country, for humanity but do it for yourself. Always remember if we are together no one can break us, no one can harm us.
